The Low-Paying Online Writing Jobs at Craigslist: Degrading to Writers?

One site where I go to find gigs that would help me earn money online is Craigslist. Here is where I can check for online writing jobs such as rewriting, article writing, transcription, and encoding. Albeit I am more focused on getting some writing and rewriting jobs, which are easier to do.

2 to 3 dollars, even 1 dollar per article?

However, I noticed that many Craigslist advertisers looking for applicants are offering compensations that are way below the standard set for professional online writing jobs. Instead of the usual 20 to 25 dollars paid per article (usually used for online sites and blogs), many advertisers offer measly 2 to 3 dollars for very 200 to 300 word article. You can obviously see the difference right? I even was able to encounter an advertisement only willing to pay writers 1 dollar per article!

Biting on cheap offers to earn money fast online

Professional and established writers might sneer at such ads, however, many other writers, especially the newbies are desperate in finding gigs that will help them make money online fast, and so they bite on the bait, however paltry it may be. Advertisers may balk at such criticisms – reasoning out that their ads are found at the low-paying writing job section of Craigslist, so they are not forcing anyone to apply.

Online writers should not allow themselves to be taken advantage of

It is now the decision of the applicants; if they want to earn money online fast by grabbing the first writing offer that they chanced upon, low paying and all, so be it. Still, my advice is to be patient in looking for a better paying writing job. Even in the Craigslist low-paying writing job section, there are many decent offers, much better than the 2-3 dollar per article opportunities. Let’s not allow unscrupulous advertisers to take advantage of our quality writing skills by paying us much less than we deserve.
